Maserati has recently launched the brand-new GranCabrio, following the 2023 GranTurismo, ensuring it amplifies the spectacle of its GranTurismo counterpart while maintaining the integrity of both performance and comfort. Opting for a convertible design, it features a foldable fabric roof that can be adjusted in just 14 seconds, even when moving at speeds up to 50kph, replacing the traditional coupe top.
The GranCabrio, featuring the same Nettuno 3.0-litre twin-turbo V6 engine found in the GranTurismo and MC20 sports cars, has been initially introduced in its high-end Trofeo model, boasting 550hp and standard all-wheel drive. While Maserati has yet to disclose the GranCabrio's acceleration times or maximum speed, it's noted that the GranTurismo can achieve 0-100kph in 3.5 seconds with a top speed of 320kph. The transition to a convertible format is expected to slightly diminish these performance figures.
The GranCabrio bears a strong resemblance to its coupe counterpart, yet it distinguishes itself with a fabric soft-top, offered in five different colors, which can be controlled through a touch button on the central display. It embodies the classic sportscar silhouette, adorned with Maserati's hallmark features such as the oval grille showcasing the Trident emblem, three air vents on the front fenders, and distinctive slim, vertical headlights complemented by slender L-shaped LED daytime running lights.
Internally, the setup remains largely consistent with that of its coupe counterpart, featuring twin screens for the infotainment and HVAC controls, alongside a traditional analog clock on the dashboard. The steering wheel and digital gauges have also been retained without alterations. A novel addition is the standard neck-warmer system, which provides three intensity levels of heat. Nonetheless, the manually adjustable wind deflector, designed to minimize air turbulence for occupants, is available as an additional option.
The most recent Maserati model to hit the market was the MC20, introduced in March 2023. The brand had earlier announced that the GranTurismo coupe is scheduled for release between April and June 2024, with the GranTurismo Folgore EV set for the October to December window. With the introduction of the GranCabrio, it's anticipated that this latest addition will also make its way to the market, potentially in 2025.
