Announcement of the new Volkswagen Tiguan L PRO
Apr 02, 2024Recently, the real car information of the SAIC Volkswagen Touareg L PRO was exposed. The car offers two new exterior designs and is the first to be equipped with a passenger entertainment screen. It is expected to be officially launched in the second quarter.
New Volkswagen Touareg L PRO features a completely new design, with a luminous logo at the top, sharp LED headlights, and a design similar to the Volkswagen ID. family. According to the information disclosed, the new Touareg L PRO will offer two front-end options: a standard version and a sporty version with R-Line package. The standard version features horizontal chrome trim decoration on the front, while the R-Line version has a diamond-shaped honeycomb structure on the grille with a smoked black finish, which enhances its sporty appearance.
At the rear, the new car has eliminated the separate left and right large headlights of the current model and replaced them with the popular through-type tail light design, paired with a dual-sided exhaust layout, further enhancing the vehicle's sportiness.
In other aspects, the R-Line version of the car also added exclusive badges at the rear bumper to reflect its identity, and offers gold and sky blue body colors.
The dimensions of the new generation Tiguan L PRO are 4735/1859 (1842)/1682mm in length, width, and height, with a wheelbase of 2791mm. Meanwhile, the current Tiguan L has dimensions of 4733 (4735)/1839 (1859)/1673 (1677)mm, with the same wheelbase of 2791mm. The differences between the two models are not very significant, and they are both positioned as mid-size SUVs.
Compared to the exterior, the interior of the new car has seen a bigger change, especially with the addition of a passenger entertainment screen, which is a first for Volkswagen models. It's clear that this is a change made by Volkswagen to better meet the demands of domestic consumers.
In other aspects, the new car has also replaced the previous mechanical gear shift design with an electronic gear shift design. The original gear shift position has been set with a dial, which is expected to be used to adjust the air conditioning, driving modes, and more. Coupled with a fully digital instrument panel and a 15.6-inch large suspended screen, the entire interior looks much cleaner and more futuristic.
According to the previously released declaration information, the new generation Tiguan L PRO will offer optional low-power 2.0T engine and high-power 2.0T engine. The low-power 2.0T engine has a maximum power of 137kW, and the high-power 2.0T engine has a maximum power of 162kW, which is consistent with the current Tiguan L's 2.0T model, and is expected to be equipped with a 7DCT dual-clutch transmission.
Volkswagen Touareg L PRO has made significant changes in its exterior design, interior layout, and power system, especially with the addition of the co-pilot screen, which is not common in joint-venture models.
